Acne

WHAT IS ACNE?
Acne is a skin condition that is caused when hair follicles under the skin become clogged, triggering inflammation in the area. It can occur in many places, but most commonly is found on the face, chest, upper back, and shoulders.
Hair follicles under the skin become clogged over time and lead to acne developing due to excessive oil production, dead skin cells accumulating, a bacterial infection of the follicle, changes in hormonal levels (an increase of acne is noted during puberty or pregnancy), stress, genetics, irritation of the skin, diets with high dairy products and sugar contents, certain medications, and most common age (during teenage and young adulthood).
HOW TO PREVENT ACNE?
To prevent acne from developing or worsening, one should focus on washing their face twice a day, avoid contact with oily products, protecting your skin (with moisturizers and sunscreens), avoid skin irritation, maintaining a proper diet (avoiding foods that worsen acne), showering after exercising, getting enough sleep and rest, and most importantly avoiding touching the affected area.
WHAT ARE OUR SERVICES FOR ACNE TREATMENT?
Over time, if acne is left untreated it can develop into the scarring of the skin. Scars can also develop due to constant picking of the skin where your acne is present. Here at Healthwatchers360 we offer multiple different cosmetic procedures such as dermabrasion, microdermabrasion, punch incisions, skin needling, laser removal, subcision, chemical peels, fat transfer, derma filler injections, Coolaser®, and cryotherapy that can help treat your acne. Make sure to talk to a licensed medical professional to find out which treatment is best for you.
